EA Grant Success!
Following the key recommendations made in the recent fisheries consultant’s report, the club applied to the EA for a grant to enhance the marginal planting on the Top Lakes.
As a result, the EA has now agreed to provide £2300 worth of mixed marginal plants which we expect to be delivered in the second half of May this year. We anticipate that this will help in a number of ways including supporting water quality and providing more marginal cover for invertebrates and spawning fish.
We intend to arrange some working parties to plant out the margins as it will be vital to get them introduced as soon as possible. We will confirm the actual dates as soon as we have confirmation but in the meantime, if you are able to support this work, please let Paul Lakritz know on 07538 277697 so we have an initial idea of numbers of volunteers.
Needless to say, helping out on a planting day will count towards the annual requirement to complete a working party for members wishing to retain, or who are seeking to obtain a Basic+ or AAA ticket.
